Georgia M. Fraser

Ms. Fraser has handled a number of International Child Abduction cases throughout the course of her professional career. These cases have involved parental kidnapping and custody disputes fought internationally, and have resulted in Ms. Fraser working with the United States State Department and Hague Convention authorities. One of these cases involved the representation of a client who returned from a business trip to find his wife had abducted his three-year-old child, packed up all of their belongings and taken her to live in a foreign country half way around the world.

In conjunction with the United States State Department, Ms. Fraser filed a Hague Convention petition for the return of the child based upon the wrongful parental abduction. Ms. Fraser aided the client in obtaining co-counsel in the abduction country, coordinated work with co-counsel and Hague Convention authorities, and participated in Hague Convention proceedings to determine that a wrongful abduction had taken place. Ms. Fraser was successful in obtaining a finding by the Hague Convention Authorities of parental abduction and was able to reunite her client with his young child. For her work in this case and other cases she received an award of merit from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in recognition of her efforts to protect children and her knowledge of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
